Unique Rolls-Royce powered "Teddy" to visit GCR
18th August 2014
14 901, 'the Rolls-Royce of Teddy Bears', will be visiting the Great Central (Loughborough) for their 30th and 31st August diesel event.

Although regularly in traffic at Peak Rail, it had not been rostered for the last weekend of the month and so Andrew accepted an approach from the GCR. The loco will leave Rowsley shortly before the event and return immediately after, to continue its Peak Rail commitments.

Replacement pneumatic gauges have now been fitted in the 14s desk, and the second speedo wired and functioning.

Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0DM 'Ashdown' is now back in action following the replacement of its defective coolant pump. Yorkshire 0-4-0DH 'James' has not been so lucky, as the exchange pump fitted promptly leaked. It has been removed for further attention.
At Scunthorpe, work on the superstructure of D2128 continues, with undercoat about to be applied. A repaired spring for Sentinel 0-6-0DH 'Tom' is now on site ready to fit.

At Darley Dale, work on laying the wallstones that will form the bottom 300mm of the building below the cladding has begun. The rollershutter doors for the Matlock end of the building are on order and the steelwork for the personnel door at that end will shortly be on site. With the concrete floor all but completed and having had time to harden, consideration is being given to installing the rails, which have been on site for several weeks.
