D2128
The engine for D2128 was moved into Elsecar during the week. Parked next to the Rolls-Royce DV8, the engine is currently part of a genset and has been disconnected, awaiting the availability of a suitable lift to free it. Although missing a starter motor, and requiring a few modifications to suit it for locomotive use, it has been barred over and appears to be in good order, with low recorded hours. Over at Scunthorpe, D2128 has been moved back around to the shed area and a start made on steam-cleaning the chassis. Although it will require further cleaning and painting, it is hoped that detailed chassis measurements can be taken by the end of November to facilitate the preparation of installation drawings.
D9524
D9524 was finally moved in to the shed on the 8th November to enable work on the fuel tanks to proceed. The modified tops to the left hand fuel tank have now been completed - the new breather to the right hand fuel tank should be completed next week. The new low-level tank was trialled in place - a minor modification then made to improve access to the bleed valve at the tank top - and the tank painted ready for final installation. This is expected to be made next weekend, when the feed hoses will be made and the tanks refilled.
