Wickham Wanderer, 22nd August 2009 |

For the last few years, Andrew's Wickham trolley has been resident behind the family home in Sheffield, brought with good intentions of getting it restored but somehow never getting to the top of the queue. During this summer however, negotiations were concluded with a small group of members from the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway to take the Wickham on indefinite loan for restoration and operation. On the 21st August, it was carefully wheeled out of its resting place (see photos in the Gallery section) and this morning taken gently down the drive under the control of Andrew's LWB Land Rover temporarily equipped with dumb buffers for the occasion. By mid morning it was loaded to a road trailer and after a brief detour to Elsecar, was taken to Embsay and unloaded. Its engine was started and run by its custodians in the course of the afternoon.
