The Locomotive Exchange - "Pluto" and "WD72229"
31st July 2011
Planned for Monday the 25th, but delayed by crew shortage, the exchange of "Pluto" and Drewry "WD72229" finally took place on Friday the 29th.

The lorry ventured first to Rowsley, and "Pluto" was loaded and departing by 10.30 in the morning, heading for York via Bakewell and Chesterfield.

After some difficulty in lining up the wagon to the DVLR track (folding neck trailer), "Pluto" was unloaded and the WD Drewry 72229 took its place -

- meanwhile "Pluto" did its first duty on the DVLR by repositioning Observation carriage 'Sylvia' back where the Drewry had been waiting.

By half past six, the Drewry was back at Rowsley and unloading had commenced.

Although the folding neck can form a ramp right to the ground, the additional "tip" rails give a better angle.
